A small listening ritual

The old radio dial.

The time it took to find a song was once part of listening.

Between two stations

When you turned an old radio dial, a station did not always come in clearly at once. There was a little static, a distant voice, and a wait. Today a song arrives with one tap. We can still make that small pause for ourselves before listening.

One whole song

Make chai and choose one song. Let the next choice wait. Keep the cup in your hand until the melody ends, and notice which small thought settles beside you. Not every thought needs to become a story.

Remember the dial

There can be a new song tomorrow. For today, one complete song and a little waiting are enough. Perhaps the warmth of an old evening lives in that slower pace.
