A pause among photographs

The blank page in an old photo album.

The space left between photographs can become part of looking at them.

The sound of turning a page

Opening an old photo album has its own slow pace. A clear sheet lifts, a little dust shows at the edges, and suddenly there is an empty space between two pictures. Perhaps a photograph was meant to go there; perhaps the space was simply left alone. A blank page does not explain why. It gives the person looking a moment to pause.

What lies outside the photograph

A photograph may show a smiling face, but not the whole conversation that day. We cannot tell from the picture who stood just beyond the frame, what happened on the way home, or what tea was made that evening. We can hold our own memories gently; we need not invent someone else's story. The empty part of an album is a small reminder of that care.

A listening ritual for today

Before playing “Tere Dar Par Sanam”, look at one page of an old album. Choose a small empty space between pictures and write down just one true thing you remember: a place, a season or a date. If nothing comes back, let the page stay blank. Look at it again after the song. Sometimes it is kinder to let a memory rest than to force it into focus.
