A small ritual of listening together

One pair of earphones, two listeners.

Some songs give us a reason to sit a little closer.

The whole song, shared

With one pair of earphones, one bud often belonged to you and the other to the person beside you. A short wire meant sitting a little closer. The song was on one person's phone, but the time spent listening belonged to both. Perhaps that is why some melodies feel different when heard together.

Room to speak between notes

Listening together does not mean staying silent every second. Someone might say that a voice reminds them of an old journey. The other person might simply smile. Without the rush to explain a song, one small thought can be enough. And when no words come, sitting together is an answer of its own.

A small listening invitation

Choose a familiar song. Hear it with someone close, whether you are in the same room or listening at the same time from different places. When it ends, do not start the next one at once. Ask which part stayed with them. Different answers are welcome; one melody can make room for two people in different ways.
